I can honestly say there is no on really like Cliff Kapono. He’s a mad scientist, an incredible surfer, filmmaker, artist, environmentalist and generally awesome guy to be around. In the few months I’ve spent some time with him, he’s shown me how much range he has. From showing up at some of the best waves on earth on their best days, to inspiring and teaching us about The Mega Lab — a research facility in Downtown Hilo focused on developing new technology to protect the ocean and provide access and assistance to communities who need it the most. They specialize in 3D photogrammetry, molecular diagnostics and remote sensing. The dude has a lot going on.

This week we added more to his plate — which included swell chasing in Canada and Japan — by asking him to run our website , curating a few columns in hopes of getting a look into his very interesting and diverse world.

To start, he made us a 12 Songs Playlists that will have you booking your flight to the islands before it’s finished. So nice to finally have a well-curated playlist of authentic Hawaiian music to enjoy and set the tone for “Pau Hana’s” of the future. Thanks Cliff.
