12 Songs: Unstable
As you’ve come to know, Jackson Todd makes our weekly 12 Song playlists an exciting, educational dive into the world of music’s past, present and future. They are highly sophisticated delves into all kinds of musical soundscapes and I know a lot of you look forward to them and hopefully they serenade you through the week and lead to all kinds of musical discoveries.
Then there’s me filling in for him this week…and well, I’ll start by apologizing to Jackson.
I may totally discredit all the hard work he’s done to this point with this one playlist, but at least we’ll go down in a ball of fire.
My inspiration is kind of out there. You see, photographer/filmmaker/artist and friend Michael Cukr and I have been on a lot of trips together and our musical tastes are one thing on paper, but when you’re traveling around for long periods of time you need texture in your playlists. It needs to be ADHD certified entertaining. They help keep the energy up during long drives with jet lag. Over the years, we end up with some pretty shocking musical picks juxtaposed together. This playlist may drop the transmission right out of all the work Jackson has done for our street cred, but here goes.
There is hip hop, pop, hardcore, country etc. (I hate when people say I listen to everything…except country). Come on, get weird, open your mind. Take it from the top and maybe don’t look while you listen, might spoil the surprise.
And don’t worry, Jackson is back next week and I’ll go back to listening in private mode with my windows rolled up on my own Spotify.—Travis Ferré
