It’s not the end of the world.

12 Songs: Val(i)entine

12 Songs: Val(i)entine

The dust is finally clearing after an eventful week.

On Friday, we held our first installment in the Inherent Bummer Live series, which was a complete barn burner. Read more about that and check out photos here. Expect more to come on that end of things.

In other news: looks like the aliens are finally here. And just in time for V-Day! Thousands across the nation are currently busy fashioning tin-foil hats out of Ferrero Rocher wrappers.

All this has left us feeling a bit scatterbrained, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing; at the very least, it makes for interesting and erratic playlists as is the case with this week’s. Featuring:

Spacemen 3, whose whole vibe centers around the question: “what if Lou Reed had been abducted by aliens in the seventies?” or perhaps more accurately, “what if Lou Reed was an alien?”

“Tubeway Army,” the kings of space-punk.

Angel Olsen, one of the finest soft-rock soothsayers out there right now.

Anika. A recommendation from our friend Mike of the Mystery Lights. Produced by Geoff Barrows, her self-titled debut is essentially a Beak> album in disguise. —Jackson Todd
