13 SONGS: ESOTERIC SPOOKS
A few takeaways from putting together this year’s Halloween playlist:
- It’s a damn shame Sonic Youth never scored a horror film.
- I don’t know what’s scarier about Sabbath’s Zero the Hero, that seriously hellish sounding intro, or the fact that Ian Gillian is on the mic rather than Ozzy.
- Sergey Kuryokhin’s Донна Анна is actually the shit-your-pants kind of horrifying, all jokes aside.
- Be sure to listen to the playlist in order so you don’t get stuck listening to Mike Oldfield’s 25-minute Tubular Bells halfway through (unless you’re into that kind of thing).
We really didn’t have to do much digging for this. It’s the kind of stuff we would proudly listen to in the middle of summer. But here it is, in all of its ghoulish glory. Happy haunting. —Jackson Todd
