12 Songs: Radio Obscura Vol. 2
Good news for the freaks: Radiohead Obscura is back! Obscurities, oddities, B-sides, curveballs, and more… you know the drill.
Italy’s Sultan Bathery kicks things off with a bit of Sabbath worship.
Next is “Don’t Call” by Prettiest Eyes, who might be the most underrated band in L.A.
Definitely check out “Good Side” off the Lifetones self-titled LP. A This Heat offshoot.
Little anecdote: I discovered this album about two weeks ago and have been absolutely obsessed with it ever since. And now, I’m writing this from Paris, where it just so happens that these guys are playing their first show in their entire existence (40 years!) of being a band this week. Serendipity!
Probably not entirely in line with this week’s theme but worth a listen nonetheless is the timeless TSOL track Flowers by the Door (which you might recognize from Jason Buttonshaw’s Surf into the Summer part). Anyone go see them in San Clemente this weekend?
R. Dean Taylor’s “There’s a Ghost in my House.” The Fall later covered this song to great effect. —Jackson Todd
