Best Sections of All-Time: The Box part from The Moment

Bill Ballard made a few very memorable surf films. For my money, Triple C was the best, Side B coming second and then this one, The Moment. All that being said, this Box section in The Moment is easily one of the Best Sections of All-Time thanks to a very reliable narrator.

I distinctly remember seeing the photos from this session in the magazine before the film so seeing it come to life was extra specia tool. And to hear Andy break it down was iconic.

The magic of this part is Andy’s narration. He has grom-like enthusiasm but adolescent “too cool” energy at the same time. He was still a grom but rapidly becoming one of The Boys and this part feels like a pivitol moment in that transition. Watch The Box section and the full film below (it has some cringy music, but pretty iconic stuff sprinkled in). Kalani Robb and Andy sparring on the Gold Coast is worth a few watches.—Travis
