Best Sections of All-Time: The West Oz Part in View From A Blue Moon
I feel like I’m having deja vu watching this part of John Florence. About a year ago we wrote about his film Done — one of John’s earlier films that he made with Blake Kueny. You can watch that HERE. This section below in their later release, View From A Blue Moon, has a lot of the same, but just bigger and better if you can even imagine that.
View From A Blue Moon was the first surf film shot entirely in 4K with an award-winning film studio, Brain Farm, and the best RED camera equipment available at the time.
Today we highlight the West Oz section. There’s something about John there. The power, the curve of the launch ramps, the crumble on the lip….it all just seems to amplify him (and everyone he’s surfing with) into another dimension. It seems like every time he paddles out there he’s coming back with a new highlight reel and that usually means Matt Meola and Albee Layer are going to be part of it too.
This West Oz part is my favorite that John has made to date. It starts at 16:44, or you can skip some of the intro to that section and get straight to the surfing at 18:10.
We need more surf cinema like this please…—Brandon Guilmette
