Chippa Wilson on his new vid "Pink Lemonade"

Tomorrow morning we have the privilege of delivering to you a small pink treat to kick off the weekend: Chippa Wilson’s new short entitled “Pink Lemonade.”

As we all sit home wondering what’s next, it’s nice to know that there are little morsels of good still coming out, even with our backs against the wall. Chippa chimed yesterday and gave a little more insight into this little ditty he made with filmmaker Ben Gulliver, which you’ll see right here tomorrow.

Inherent Bummer: What inspired this take on the pool?

Chippa Wilson: To be honest, this was all Ben [Gulliver’s] doing on the creative side. He’s a master at what he does so I didn’t have any doubts at all.

What’d you think when he first sent it over?  

I was thrilled to see what he had cooked up in the editing bay. I honestly had forgotten about it until he sent me the link to peep. Loved the whole feel of the short: very easy on the eyes and different from the other pool edits I’ve seen. 

Did you feel like you were shooting for a concept vid or were you and Balaram just shredding?

Throughout the day it was just a shred with a good pal — but once it got a little darker and fireworks started popping off it definitely felt a little different to the normal day to say the least. Pool. fireworks, Texas…yeah, it was actually really strange [laughs].

How have you been staying sane during this global pandemic?  

Luckily for me I’m a bit of a hermit anyway and the place I live is very uncrowded, so this all seems relatively normal for me but I know it’s absolutely crippling the world at the moment. I definitely have my good and bad days as everyone probably does. I’m settling into a new way of life though as I can’t travel for some time now, and who knows how long that will be for.

Any behind the scenes stories about the shoot worth sharing?  

Yerp! This trip was a wildcard move. I flew from Australia to Vancouver and jumped struggling into Ben’s wagon with Bal and Ben and started the drive down to L.A. We were on a little surf mission and got so skunked so we headed to a sure thing in Waco Texas!
