Come Sail Away: Surf Vids and a Free Show with Richard Rose and Repeater
For almost two years now we have been sailing this Inherent Bummer battleship from an attic wheelhouse, patiently planning and waiting through pandemics and the rise of hard seltzer to get back together. And we’ve decided it’s time. Time to go back outside and pillage some cities with you. Sweat and rock out like the good old days while a new surf vid plays loud and is followed up by good rock ‘n’ roll. I see no reason to delay. Are you free? Friday? July 23. Let’s start there.
Through a bit of serendipitous luck, we’ve landed an opportunity to throw a free, all ages rock show with our friends at Vissla Friday night. It’s at The OC Tavern in San Clemente, California and will feature live performances by Richard Rose and Repeater. We’re also going to play a few videos — Noa Mizuno’s new “Tech Noir” and Nick Melanson’s vid “Dusted” — as well as our very own “Surf Film” — live and loud for the very first time. Show up at 7:30pm. You’re in.
And while I write to you surrounded by an attic archive of good memories from the past — they’re just that. Memories. Videos, photos, magazines, art, letters and hard drives detailing past lives very well lived — albeit rather recklessly. It’s fun to reminisce, but let's save it for a campfire. Nostalgia is dead.
After Friday’s event we careen straight into a bunch more events including one in Costa Mesa, CA in August with our friend Colin Moran and his new film Thunderbird, and then a whole damn U.S. blowout tour for Kolohe Andino’s new film Reckless Isolation. No time like the present. See you Friday. We’ll go from there.—Travis
