If there was ever something both impossible to talk about and impossible to ignore its style. We all “know it when we see it” but turn into puddles when asked to define it. So we asked the experts and assembled a panel made up of Gerry Lopez, Craig Anderson, Brad Gerlach, Kai Neville and Thomas Campbell to help us make sense of it all.

Style has a way of drifting in and out of the competitive arena and over the decades there have been a few who’ve managed to both stack wins and captivate us with the way they did it. Those are the surfers we wanted to highlight. Think Andy, Curren, Occy, Gerry, Craig, Machado, Slater, Steph, Carissa, etc.

They all found that balance. But as we enter a new era of competitive surfing, we wanted to get together a panel of both masters and connoisseurs of style to celebrate and explore that thing that is, as the polarizing Buk once said, “… the answer to everything.”
