Friday Night Flicks: Symbiopsychotaxiplasm: Take One
Every story has multiple subplots. Every subplot has its own subplots and spinoffs. Every story is a story within a story within a story and, in fact, when you depart the only thing that will be left of you is your story. We recommended this William Greaves film a while back and its relevance grows by the day. If your reality is closing in on you and your social reality is growing larger than your own actual reality and you just don’t know who’s behind the wheel anymore, then check out this classic film from 1968 and see where you end up. There’s never been a film that dives into the psychology of where reality and art and living may or may not intersect quite like it.
See if you can solve the riddle at the intersection of existence and art. Link to check it out on HBO Max below the trailer.
If you’d like a deeper dive, The New Yorker did a deep dive in 2015 that might provide a bit more context.
