It’s not the end of the world.

There's a good show tonight in Southern California

There's a good show tonight in Southern California

There’s been a trend in surf vids (and on Instagram edits) of filmmakers digging as deep as they could into like David Bowie’s catalog to see just how obscure a track they could unearth and run it with their video parts. Then it was older songs from mixes and playlists, or songs from bands who’ve been defunct or dead for decades. Which is all fine and good, cleansed our palette a bit after years of strictly Blink 182, Bad Religion and Pennywise — which at the time totally worked too.

Now, there are so many new bands, so many ways and places to find music that it can be hard to dig through and make sense of all the noise.

It takes a reliable narrator to get you through the noise. Hopefully we can be that! I was just informed of a show tonight in Long Beach, CA that features four really good bands. Call ‘em post-punk, or just indie, but every single one of these bands is good in their own unique way and if you are into good music shows for cheap, like $5, this is one to check out. The line up is this:

Adult Books

Billy Changer

The Gems

Dancing Tongues

Show starts at 8:30pm and is 21+ at Alex’s Bar in Long Beach, CA (Address: 2913 E Anaheim St, Long Beach, CA 90804)

And if you can’t make it, here’s a Spotify link to a playlist of their music.
