Have you seen this iconic Mason Ho Session?

In today’s cluttered media environment, certain performances and sessions go a bit under appreciated because we’re all a little numb to “content.” It’s tough to get the right context when the initial onslaught of media comes out, especially during epic years on the North Shore when there’s so many epic sessions going down. I think that’s the case with this 2022 performance by Mason Ho at the Da Hui Backdoor Shootout. We kinda need to revisit it to fully appreciate just what he did.

Thanks to the one of our favorite surf filmmaking auteurs Jack Coleman — who lets the surfing do the talking here — released this recent vid of Mason’s waves during the Backdoor Shootout.
