Inherent Bummer officially endorses the new King Krule record "Man Alive!"
I put a significant amount of time in with King Krule’s new record this weekend and decided it’s damn worthy of recommending. Especially as the Sunday scaries start to creep in and your Monday stacks to the horizon, might as well give ya something to serenade the ears. This record really is unlike anything else out there. Archy nails it.
For those unaware, the English musician somehow fuses Hip Hop, punk, jazz, trip-hop and dark wave into a sound all his own. From lyrics to sound, this is undeniably King Krule. I recently listened to it while sitting on the London Underground and it went just as well there as it did driving in the sunshine to go surf this morning in California. All weekend it showed no signs of backing down when put on as the sun dipped and drinks went from sober to spiked. It’s got range.
I also decided over the weekend that I need to crank up the volume and output on this site and provide an outlet for better living through surfing and all those realms around it. The landscape is full of gross gossip, antiseptic content and I have spent enough time in feeds and in the field and on the damn sidelines to know that no one is gonna do it, might as well be us.
Let’s get better at living, traveling, surfing, skating, reading, watching, wandering, eating and drinking together. Time to radicalize.—Travis Ferré
