The Last Crusade Book Release
It was Christmas Eve, about 5 p.m., when my phone rang and it was Matt Biolos. I was sitting at the dinner table with my entire family, sipping Cab Sav and salivating on all the eating I was about to do. Feeling festive, rocking cozy sweater, lights and tinsel, Sinatra on the deck etc.
“I think I need to take this,” I told my entire family. “It’s Mayhem.”
On the other line was the man himself telling me about a book he wanted to make with all the greatest surf photographers and all the greatest surf writers and artists all chronicling the trip Kolohe Andino and Co. had pulled off in the Mentawais. “There’s no mags, I think I’m going to make a book and I need you to help in some way.”
Obviously I was in and I now have two Mayhems in my quiver of Doc’s thanks to my contributions but I must say: I’m excited to see this book. Nate Lawrence photography in large format is worth the price of admission. What excites me is the spirit it all came together with: very raw, very core and, most importantly, really fun. I didn't see the end phases come together and it was delayed due to ongoing supply chain “issues” but needless to say: this book is worth the wait.
Next Friday March 18th the boys are in town to release the book, sign some copies and have some drinks to celebrate. Come hang, or click below to order a copy if you can’t make it. See ya Friday.—Travis
