The Eddie Aikau Big Wave Invitational was called on! And then about 19 hours later it was called OFF.

For a good few hours we started to look back at a few of our favorite moments from the most historic event in surfing. Brock Little riding giants, Bruce Irons’ shorebreak escapades, Kelly pulling into massive caverns out the back, and Flea jumping from the top ropes…so many frighteningl and beautiful moments.

It’s a true waterman’s gauntlet in one of the most prestigious gladiator arenas we have in surfing. Any day that the giant awakens you find the crowd lining the shore and road watching surfers brave one of the scariest big waves on the planet.

John John recently spent a day surfing at Waimea Bay with his brother Ivan and invited Jack Robinson along for his maiden voyage at The Bay. Any time John is paddling out on the North Shore something magical seems to happen. Watch this and freak out with us on the way that John toys with this massive mounds of ocean. It’s some of the most exciting big wave surfing we’ve watched in a while.

If you had to put my money on anyone to take the cake at The Eddie if it does go, it would be hard not to bet on JJF —Brandon
