Reel Talk: Crosby Colapinto

Reel Talk: Crosby Colapinto

When the crew got back from filming for Kolohe Andino’s film Reckless Isolation, the overwhelming dialogue about the trip — aside from the fact that holy shit they got Indo alone! — was the performance of Crosby Colapinto.

Up until this film, Crosby was a late-blooming but hard-charging younger (but bigger) brother of Griffin Colapinto. A little late to show off his elite talent, Crosby flew a bit below the radar until the Reckless trip.

He came home a buzzworthy, holy-shit-he’s-gnarly type of surfer — even when stacked up next to Kolohe, Griff, Ian and Luke. Crosby stood out. Powerful. Charges. Fearless barrel rider. And funny as hell.

We had already put Crosby through a lot of these questions when we grilled him here, so we asked him more about the Reckless trip and book: The Last Crusade. An artifact of photography, stories, humor, all wrapped up in an incredible package featuring photography by Nate Lawrence and all sorts of interesting tales from the trip.

If you don’t have it yet, order it here. And if you wanna watch Crosby in Reckless Isolation, check out his Reel Talk, then click below to see him flair in the film.—Travis
