Reel Talk: Nate Tyler
It was always hard to know exactly where Nate Tyler was from. He wasn’t a So Cal guy, and he wasn’t a Nor Cal guy but he was definitely Californian. Hiding out in somewhat remote zones of Central California, Nate made a career out of appearing in the biggest surf films ever made — from Joe G’s Globe films to RT’s Volcom vids, Nate’s epic style and massive punts were documented.
Cut to today: Nate is a dad and still ripping along the Central CA coast, only now he’s doing insanely rad kinetic art sculptures for a living — a skillset handed down from his dad — and finding time to ramp out on those wedges as well.
Nate was in Southern California to hang with the 805 beer guys and to premiere their recent film Convergence. We sat him down on the grandma couch and got deep on kinetic art, California and high-end boxed wine.—Travis Ferré
