3 Pod Mix: TOO MUCH THINKING MAKES ME ILL
Gui Martins of 3 Pod Mix always has his hands in something fun. Whenever Caity Simmers, Eithan Osborne, and most of our other favorite surfers are in Portugal, Gui is usually their first call. He’s got his finger on the pulse and won’t steer you wrong when it comes to waves, parties, music, art and culture. What more could you ask for?!
This is his latest work for “3 Pod Mix” — the Portuguese crew we’re huge fans of — took them to South Africa. The trio (Diogo Martins, Issam Auptel and Yael Peña) are always in search of a good time and South Africa and the all the adventure that is was calling.
Now there’s a reason we’ve become such fans of these guys:
It’s their own POV on a spot and it’s fresh. There are no agendas. They are not revolving around some crazy swell that the whole surf world went to JBay to score that you’ll inevitably see twelve angles of the same ride. Nothing against that, but my feed has enough shots from the last Jaws swell to make me blind.
It’s raw. Three friends taking things as they come on the other side of the world. You’re in for a few curve balls (i.e. car repairs, navigation errors etc). Make no mistake, these guys are there to score waves, but they aren’t passing on an opportunity to enjoy their first braai, a safari, or a few cold beers after a damn good day surfing.
3. Good music: These guys have their finger on the pule. It’s always on point with the tunes and it’s much appreciated.
