12 Songs: Rough Ones
As jaded as the whole “garage rock” thing has become over the last decade or so, it can be fun to revisit every now and then (in small doses). Unlikely cult heroes like the Gories and Oblivians still have legions of wannabes imitating their sound nowadays, acting under the false pretense that they’re the first to max out the gain on their tape machines and play a crude version of the 12 bar blues. Not all of us have moved on…
But I should probably stop complaining, because these are the same people that keep rock/punk/garage/whatever you wanna call it dangerous. So maybe we actually owe these disciples of dirt a little gratitude.
