New Noise: Natural Selection comes to surfing

At this stage in surf culture’s evolution any disruption is good. But to have it come from someone as credible as Travis Rice and to be aimed at elevating the competitive offering for surfing, well, that makes today a glorious day because it’s official: Natural Selection will have a surf event in 2025.

All Natural Selection Tour events put Mother Nature at the forefront and feature the most elite boardriders on earth doing their thing in an environment that is full of consequence, highly competitive, and fun as hell all at the same time. Everyone will want in on this. Core Score galore.

The first event is taking place early in 2025 “somewhere in Micronesia” and they’ve already got a list of legends lining up to make sure this is something epic for surfing and we all benefit. Rob Machado is heading the Advisory Council.

Natural Selection Surf will feature a compelling mix of surfers riding perfect waves of consequence deep in the Pacific Ocean. Cutting-edge camera technology will capture the beauty and power of the ocean while showcasing competitive surfing at its highest level. Surfers will be faced with navigating intense, natural conditions and fellow competitors in an exciting new format. Jodi Young will oversee operations, along with Travis Ferre of Inherent Bummer and photographer Jason Murray, who are helping to bring the surf crew together for the new event.
