Best Section of All-Time: Shane Cross in Let's Live

We’ve had Shane Borland, star of the new Chapter 11 vid Crossed Roads curating for us this week. Today he chose his selection for Best Section of All-Time. It’s a skate vid, but one we can all find a connection to. Read below for his take on this iconic section from an instant classic, Let’s Live.

“Let’s Live came out when I was like 7 and I watched it for the first time when I was 8 — which is when I got sponsored by Volcom. I think they sent me the Let’s Live DVD in one of my first [clothes] boxes and I would just watch it on repeat. Shane’s part always stood out to me and he instantly became my favorite. He died when I was really young so that video was pretty much all knew him from. I think that part is the best because ever since I watched it for the first time I thought Shane was the coolest dude and the sickest skater and instantly wanted to be just like him —literally just from watching that one part. From his style on the board to what he would wear and everything in between. I just thought he was the coolest dude and so fucking gnarly.  I always loved how he would skate really big shit and make it look super easy and the fact that he skated everything and made it all look good. The animation and claymation in the intro is amazing and the song, “Friday on my Mind” is one of the best and goes so well with the video which I think is one of, if not the most important things, when it comes to making a good part.”—Shane Borland
