Best Sections of All-Time: Nathan Fletcher in Separate Volume and Archy in Wave Warriors

As you know, every week we pay homage to our favorite sections of all-time. This week’s selections are chosen by an absolute connoisseur of surf videos. Tanner Gudauskas is as well-versed as anyone on burning out VCRs on surf VHSs. So do not take these selections lightly. Get radical.

Matt Archbold Wave warriors: AIRVOLUTION.

“Yeah this section I’ve been watching a ton of lately. Astrodeck movies are the best. Just so radical and raw. I love the interviews too. Very pure perspective on surfing. Almost like nothing else really mattered other than getting radical.

“When we were like 12 or 13 we started going into the Astrodeck factory and getting pads from Herbie and Dibi. That completely changed my life. Just those guys with the stories, and the artwork, and their energy. To me, the radicalness of Wave Warriors and Astrodeck is all because of Herbie and Dibi. I remember they gave us all the Wave Warriors VHS movies, some Astrodeck sweatpants and pads one time and we were so HYPED. Memorized the movies front to back. Supernatural too. Fuck, so many good ones, Youthful Energy etc… But now when I watch them it makes me feel like a grom again. Focusing on thrashing and creating. Living radically I guess. Archy is the King. Style in and out of the water and still at the top today in both. This section gets me fired up, he gets so low on his board and has so much power.”—Tanner

Nate Fletcher: Separate Volume

“This is up there for me on best ever sections list. This movie is such a sleeper and so good. Every section. I could even list the end Dustin Barca section in here too. The music is rad and editing is different. But this section to me is the pinnacle of what I’d hope to achieve in a “section”. Big waves, airs, Hawaii. Nate is the man he is always pushing and rad to watch, but to me this section does a really good job of compiling his entire spectrum of gnarly into just a couple minutes.”—Tanner
