Best Sections of All-Time: Tim Curran in Good Times
There’s a backside floater in this section that’s worth a column of its own. And we’ll get to that, but what this part represents is a fresh time in young Tim Curran’s career when he’d made his debut in Focus (he was the alley-top kid) and he’d just jumped from Billabong to Quiksilver. But he always rode for Reef.
When Shea Perkins at Reef came to us about helping them celebrate 40 years of Reef, he had the idea of making replicas of iconic boards from all the eras. Derek Ho. Brock Little. Machado. Lisa Andersen. The corest of the core.
The replica project was a long time in the making but when it was displayed at the Factory by the Sea last week, we were in awe. These boards are insane to look at. They instantly conjure memories, and for me, and my generation, the McCrystal with glass ons is the one.
This part lives forever in my head, and I’m not even a goofy foot. But yeah, watch below, Tim Curran at his finest. And that floater, you’ll know it when you see it.—Travis Ferré
