Stream short film "The Tazynator" by Ari Marcopoulos
I’ve seen this sort of film attempted a lot and it rarely hits. Something doesn’t work. It comes off contrived or try hard. I always love the effort, but the conceptual short surf film is a tough nut to crack. There is subtle care that must be taken to nail it and Ari Marcopoulos — very talented photographer and artist originally from The Netherlands who came to fame documenting skateboarding, hip hop and basketball in NY — took advantage of his time living in Northern California and made a surf film that absolutely nails it.
I encourage you to check it out. It’s exclusively streaming right now for free this weekend only. It stars Santa Cruz’s Anthony Tashnick. It’s beautiful, haunting, mysterious, alluring and core.
We have an interview with Ari in the next issue of Fresh Hell as well as more looks at his work and in-depth review of the Barbarian Days gallery exhibition presented by Fergus McCaffrey.
More on that later, today take advantage of the exclusive stream of The Tazynator, it’s only live this weekend.
Click here to watch the film May 8th and 9th only.
*And be sure to check out the Barbarian Days artists and work here. More to come in Fresh Hell Issue 3, coming soon.
