Start Making Sense of Your Fins: Episode 3 of "Cutting Through" by Futures
Our favorite series about fins has a new episode featuring San Diego surfer/shaper Zack Flores. Future’s fin designer and neck tan superhero Luke Worsham orders up a custom board to pair with Zack’s signature fiberglass twin fins and the two give em a spin. They dudes also test drive a prototype single fin and discuss the subtle nuances of fin placements in terms we can all understand.
The cool thing about this series is seeing a fin designer and a shaper or pro surfer (as we saw with Ian Crane in Episode 2) get together and go surf and leave the jargon at home. Technical fin talk can be a headspin, but in Cutting Through, the boys cut through the gibberish and sound off and illustrate what’s happening on these different templates and you start to get a sense of how it might work on a board you may have in the quiver that just needs some new fins to spice it up.
