Watch: Moments For Your Memory: Gunner Day

The first time I met Gunner Day he was the cutest little surfer boy from San Clemente you have ever seen. Fresh faced, NSSA enrolled and well-versed on SC State Park ramps. He shredded and had a wild forehand layback that you couldn’t help but compare to Clay Marzo. Polite and friendly. Everything you hope for in an upstanding young shredder from the OC.

Cut to a few years later: Gunner is now a man. He skipped the prodigy path of San Clemente’s surf school nursery and went full blown Core Score up. He’s got two parts coming out, the first of which is here today and it’s another installment in Metal Neck Matt Tromberg’s really well-done and highly entertaining series “Moments from Your Memory” — which has so far featured mostly unsung rippers from all over. I feel like we don’t deserve something so rad, but Matt keeps sending us the gold and we’ll keep enjoying. Crank it up, you know the soundtrack is great and Gunner is gonna toss some wild laybacks.—Travis Ferré
