Here’s a true story about Noah Beschen’s new movie: Noah. We premiered this film at the US Open of Surfing during our Factory by the Sea event. It was a massive turnout, the film was extremely well-received and the night went off. We interviewed the guys behind the film the next morning, slightly dusty and about to board a plane to South Africa — which you can watch below to get a little insight into this crew who are literally changing the game. Which I was somehow oblivious to at the time.

The night of the premiere I missed the showing because I was running around making sure everyone was having a good time and being “a host.” That is my first mistake.

Then the movie came out on Red Bull TV and somehow I missed it again. Despite knowing it was supposed to be a cinematic game-changer, I kept putting it off. Bad editor!

So finally, the other night, after everyone went to bed, I hit play on Noah’s film for the first time. I half expected to doze off if I’m being honest — cinematic surf films can do that and nothing against them, the musical choices and slow motion just don’t hit like I want them to. Maybe I need an IMAX or something. But instantly, this film is not that. It was better.

I was enthralled instantly. Andy Woodward’s cinematic “magic” underwater was hypnotic and Noah Beschen is the smiliest mad man on earth. Whether he’s in the biggest Teahupoo barrel you’ve ever seen or corkscrewing his way though the air, his spontaneity on a board keeps you glued.

Go watch this film, don’t let it slip by any longer. It’s a cinematic and surf film masterpiece and I didn’t even see it coming! Well done dudes. Who says surf films are dead? And for the record, I like the music video thing at the end…—Travis Ferré
