12 Songs: Live and Dangerous, Vol. 2
If the ceaseless barrage of Levitation propaganda that’s been dominating our socials for the last month hasn’t made it clear enough, w'e’re pretty damn excited to be heading out to Austin this weekend. Expect plenty of coverage, interviews, playlists etc. from our modest but capable wrecking crew.
In anticipation, we’ve curated another set of live recordings, casting an even wider net this time around for maximum chaos. Featuring:
Chalk. Violent and disorderly post-punk courtesy of the Lone Star State. Watch this space.
The Feelies do the Velvets. Sounds like: A wedding at MOMA, featuring Jonathan Richman as priest.
The Flying Burrito Brothers. Valley boys do pseudo-southern, fronted by the legendary Graham Parsons.
Thin Lizzy. One of the great tragedies of my life has been reconciling with the fact that I’ll never get to see this band live. Their live catalog may be the closest most of us will ever get to experiencing the sheer urgency of the real thing, but at times, it feels close enough - dangerous enough, that is.
